Moody 31ft MK1 for sale in Kent
This Moody 31 MK1, built in 1984, is ideal for coastal cruising or the occasional cross-channel trip. EN PAZ is the fin keel version of the Moody 31 with wheel steering (Lewmar folding wheel), and will accommodate six people in reasonable comfort. She is being offered for sale with recent sails, central heating, a full cockpit enclosure, a comprehensive navigation suite and a February 2024 survey report. The owner is selling as they are looking for a larger yacht. An early viewing of this Moody 31 is highly recommended. A berth in Chatham Marina is also available by separate negotiation.

Accommodation :
This Moody 31 MKI offers six berths, i.e. two doubles and two singles in three cabins including the saloon. It has approximately 6ft of headroom throughout.
The forecabin has a V-berth with an infill to convert to a double berth, an opening deck hatch and good storage including a hanging locker, shelves and under berth storage.
Aft of the forecabin is the saloon which has two settee berths either side of the central table which has drop leaves meaning that it can easily seat six people. The saloon also has lots of storage space in various lockers and shelves as well as under settee storage. The yacht has blue fabric upholstery throughout and also benefits from diesel cabin heating. The saloon also has a Samsung smart TV mounted on the starboard bulkhead.
Aft of the saloon and to starboard is the galley. It has a Nelson Spinflo 2 burner gas cooker with oven and grill. A “Supercool” fridge and a stainless sink with pressurized hot and cold water. Hot water is provided by a calorifier tank from the engine and via a 240v immersion heater. There is a steel water tank that holds 137 litres.
Opposite the galley is the navigation station with a swivel seat, chart storage and an array of navigation equipment.
Aft of the navigation station is the Head’s compartment with a Jabsco marine toilet and wash basin with hot and cold water. It also has a hanging locker for waterproofs and life jackets.
Aft of the galley and to starboard is the aft cabin which has a double berth, storage locker and has port holes which make it feel light and airy. It also has access to the rear and side of the engine.
Companionway steps lead up to the cockpit which has two good bench seats and a deep locker on the port side and a gas locker.

History & Construction:
This Moody 31 MK I built by Marine Projects (Plymouth) in 1984 to a Bill Dixon Design has a white GRP hull, superstructure and decks with grey moulded non-slip deck surfaces. Cast Iron Fin keel with wheel steering to a skeg-hung rudder. It has a self-draining cockpit. In 2002 the hull was stripped and Awlgrip Hull Guard applied to the Hull.
The hull was last antifouled and hull polished in May 2024, anodes were also changed and all of the seacocks, with the exception of the galley sink, replaced. The owner is selling as he is looking for a larger yacht. A 2024 survey report is available to anyone viewing the yacht.

Spars and Sails:
This Moody 31MK I has a Bermudan sloop rig with a deck-stepped Kemp silver anodised mast and boom. It has stainless steel standing rigging that was replaced in 2018 with terylene running rigging. A slab reefing mainsail with lazyjacks and Harken mainsail luff slides, harken furling headsail. All lines are led aft via clutches to coachroof-mounted winches. It also has a spinnaker pole.

Mechanical Systems:
Located under the companionway steps is a 1984 Volvo Penta 2003 28HP three-cylinder inboard diesel engine with calorifier tank. Shaft drive to 3-blade variable pitch Brunton Autoprop propeller. It has a 90 litres stainless steel fuel tank. The engine was re-built in 2003 and has completed approximately 2000 hours since. The engine will be serviced in September 2024.This yacht will cruise at 5 knots and has a maximum speed of 7 knots
Electrical Systems:
3 x 12-volt batteries (1 x engine + 2 x domestic) charging from the engine alternator and via 240v shore power system with ring main, immersion heater and battery charger. It also has two 20 Watt Solar panels.
